Using the ownCloud web interface

A personalCloud account allows to synchronize the parameters of its devices (PC, tablet, smartphone ...) as well as various media (photos, documents, music ...). Here's the easiest way to manage your data: the web interface.

The advantage of managing your ownCloud account via a browser is that you can find all your data (multimedia files, contacts, bookmarks, calendars ...) on any device, whether it's yours or a Friend, at home, at work, or in an Internet cafe.

Summary:

  1. Creating and first using the ownCloud account
  2. Adding Files
  3. Creating a calendar
  4. Your contacts
  5. Tasks
  6. Your pictures
  7. Bookmark and Share

1. Creating and using the ownCloud account

  • At the first login, you get a window giving you links and help in English. Do not worry, tutorials in French are available at the end of this article.

2. Adding Files

  • The main screen is by default on the "Files" tab. It's good, let's see how to put it online.
  • To sort your files into folders, you can click "New" at the top left of the window, choose "Folder" and give it a name.
  • Click the arrow to the right of the "New" button to bring a file online. A window opens to navigate the files on your hard drive and choose one.

  • Beside each file, you have buttons to rename and download this file, access an old version of the file, and share it (with another user or via a public link). Then you see its size and modification date.
  • Not only do you have access to these files from anywhere, but in addition you can read most of them directly from the web browser without installing an application. In my example, here is the PDF of the ownCloud 6 manual.

3. Creating a Calendar

  • From the "Calendar" tab, you will see that a calendar already exists. This is the default calendar. You can edit it, and create more, by clicking on the toothed wheel at the top right of the window. To avoid unpleasant surprises, make sure that your time zone is correct (cf capture below). In some cases, the first time zone is selected by default (Abidjan). Cities are listed alphabetically, and by continent.

  • It's up to you to fill your calendar and find it on all your devices.

4. Your Contacts

  • The "Contacts" tab allows you to create your personal address book on the web. You can import an existing address book or create contacts one by one.
  • When creating, you can assign the contact to a group (you can create as many as you want). You can also add input fields such as "company", "title", "nickname", "birthday", "phone", "email", "instant messaging", "blog", "address" "Web page".
  • When you click the email address dedddsddDDd your contact, a new e-mail software.

5. Tasks

  • The tab "Tasks" allows you to keep under the elbow all the things you do not want to forget or want to keep track of. I use it a lot, and I use less post-it now (I sow everywhere).
  • You can assign a category (see the list on the left on the capture), as well as a time interval.
  • Example: I created two tasks on my workplace (oh, that's not right!). And I'll find the shopping list on my smartphone at the store, and my to-do list on my netbook at home.

6. Your images

  • This tab allows you to see your images. To put them online, you must use the "Files" tab (part 2 of this tutorial). Remember, I created a "Photos" directory.
  • Once the pictures online, the "Pictures" tab allows, as I said, to see your photos

  • Opening a photo launches a slide show. You can interrupt it with the pause button, and navigate manually with the next and previous buttons.

7 . Bookmark and Share

  • Want to find your bookmarks at any time? This useful tab will give you any browser or PC used (or any other machine to go on the internet).
  • You enter the URL, you can change the name of the header, and possibly put a comment.
  • For the rankings, one uses the tags, or keywords. We thus find the list of all tags created in the column on the left, which will serve us as a filing filter. The interest of the tag is that a site can have several tags, thus appearing in several categories.
  • A click on the URL opens the site in question in a new tab.

    Bonjour Khaled
    http://forum.zaclys.com/viewforum.php?f=17

  • by Bill (Zaclynaute) - 20/09/2014 18:11

    http://doc.owncloud.org/server/7.0/user_manual/files/server_to_server_using.html

  • by Kha (non connecté) - 19/09/2014 23:24

    bonjour,

    Merci

  • by Bill (Zaclynaute) - 17/01/2014 10:41

    Bonjour

  • by EdouardBearGrylls (Zaclynaute) - 17/01/2014 09:47

    Bonjour,

  • by lyo (non connecté) - 16/07/2013 17:43

  • by Bill (Zaclynaute) - 16/07/2013 17:05
